Ung Nghwmni Hynafgwyr - In The Company of Elders with Siân Wroe Jones
Siân Wroe Jones, a resident emerging artist here at Blackwater Gallery, recently undertook a fantastic commission opportunity with registered charity Re-Live.
Re-Live is an award-winning charity providing a dynamic programme of Life Story Theatre, Arts in Health group work and experiential training.
Based in Cardiff, they work alongside people and communities, supporting participant performers to share their experiences, so that audiences young and old can witness the untold stories of our time.
Their creative process takes people on a transformative journey and places their story centre stage. This process can be thrilling, cathartic and life-changing.
Their theatre productions have included veterans with post-traumatic stress, people diagnosed with a terminal illness and people living with dementia.
At Re-Live, they are committed to creative engagement with older people since they opened their doors in 2006.
'We believe that discovering and developing creativity as we age has an enormous impact on older people's health and wellbeing. We offer creative projects and opportunities where older people can forge friendships and social connections and where their creative contributions are visible, valued and celebrated'
They recently established a Company of Elders, a dedicated group of 10 older people who meet weekly on Zoom and create new Life Story performances, shared online with the public, health and social care professionals, and policymakers.
The commission undertaken by Jones was to paint a multi portrait 'Gallery View' image of all members. This will be included in all publicity for their forthcoming 'Company of Elders' Life Story performance on Zoom.
