Over the last 12 months our artist led team have worked to support and develop the practice of a fantastic array of emerging artists. With our exhibition premiere evenings selling out, often twice over, the atmosphere of our opening nights is always full of energy and vibrancy. With guests taking the opportunity to view the latest collections and support groundbreaking emerging art. 

 

This year our end of year exhibition, TYFI, will bring together a powerful selection of new work featuring some of Blackwater Galleries most prominent artists of 2022.

 

Artists include - 

 

Award winning portrait and figure painter based in South Wales. An artist who has exhibited widely across the UK, Chapple is currently artist in residence for Ballet Cymru.

 

Based in North Wales, fine arts graduate Retallick works predominantly in oils. Exhibited across Wales and London, Retallick explores the effect of contrastig light and shadow across thr Welsh countryside in his contemporary landscapes.

 

Caitlin Flood-Molyneux is a contemporary Welsh Artist based in South Wales. Their artistic practice investigates the relationship between pop culture imagery and the way in which we attach emotion and memory to images and use this to narrate their subjective experiences of hardship.

 

Award winning contemporary sculptor Hudson has developed a body of work with strong contemporary urban narratives. His work is passionate, and the inspiration behind each sculpture often tells an emotive story.

 

Ian Mackenzie is an artist based in South Wales. He works in rich detailed oils on canvas. Working as a Police Officer in South Wales and in particular Cardiff Bay has given Ian a real insight into the stories of tough hard-working people, who grew up through hardship and difficult times.

 

Jon Wall's practice predominently sits within the confines of theology, the philosophical debate of the nature of god. The innate desire to hack reality and find a deeper meaning to existence is fundamental to the human experience and has been questioned by philosophers, religions, scientists, astrologists, and artists since the beginning of human consciousness.

 

Artist Chris Pompas' motivation is to reinterpret the world and everything in it as it's experienced within his own imagination. He works predominantly in collage, often utilising found and reclaimed materials.

 

Born in Swansea where the artist is still based, Williams finds inspiration in nature, in the sky and the sea. Her practice aims to give visual narrative into the emotions and physical repercussions from moments of change that people go through in their lives.
