Hailing from Gibraltar, the paintings of Christian Hook effortlessly combines tradition with new aesthetics.

Christian Hook won Sky Portrait Artist of the year in 2014, beginning his studies at Middlesex University and then going on to work for Disney among others. During his time on Sky Portrait Artist of the Year, Christian Hook painted the likes of Kristen Scott Thomas, and Ian McKellen, finishing the competition with a commissioned portrait of acclaimed actor Alan Cumming.

Christian Hook often challenges himself to depict both the passage of time and motion in his paintings, citing Cezanne’s use of multiple viewpoints to depict a subject as particularly notable to him.
